She was predeceased by the love of her life John C. Norton, Jr. (husband), her parents Dorothy Rigg Mohler and Donald I. Mohler and her brothers Donald I. “Dutch” Mohler Jr., John R. Mohler and Walter Rigg Mohler.
Sally was raised in Catonsville with her four brothers. She went to St. Mark's School, transferred to Trinity, then Notre Dame Preparatory High School. In her first year of college, she fell in love with Jack Norton. They were married, Muz at age 19, Jack at age 29, which her mother thought was a great idea since she introduced them three years prior. By the time she was 34 years old she had eight children. Jack remained the “love of her life” until his passing in 2008.
Everyone that met Sally, also known by her grandmother’s name Muz, recognized her kindness, beautiful smile and classy style. She loved to gather her family and celebrate all of the holidays; Ocean City and Christmas were her favorites. Both were steeped in ritual and tradition. Her grandchildren loved that she was always up to trying something new such as planking, taking a ride on a mattress across a backyard pulled by a tractor, and parasailing.
She lived in Ten Hills when her children were young and belonged to St. William of York parish, later returning to Catonsville and back to her childhood parish of St. Mark's. She was a devout Catholic with a deep devotion to Mother Mary.
She is a bright light that will forever be in the hearts of those that knew and loved her. Though she will be greatly missed, there is comfort knowing that she resides in a blessed place with those that have passed before her, especially her Jack, brothers, mom and dad, and grand-daughter Kelly Suzanne Dieringer.
Be at peace our blessed mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
