Sergio Baga Mateo

Dr. Sergio Baga Mateo, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on December 19, 2017. Serge was born in Davao, Philippines to Francisco and Emma Mateo. He graduated from The University of Santo Tomas Medical School. A lifelong learner, he was immersed in the field of science and medicine. He enjoyed teaching his wife and daughters about life, love, and the joys of an immaculately clean house. He had a passion for travel, music, and dancing, and spent his last month dancing in Versailles and travelling with his wife and siblings. He was an active member of several organizations including Association of Philippine Physicians in Maryland Association (APPM) and The University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society in America (UPMASA). Sergio was a devoted member of the Church of the Resurrection. He is survived by his wife, Ofelia Mateo, his children, Christina Mateo, Madeleine-Joy Mateo, and Anna Mateo, and his siblings Milagros Agpoa, Elsa Gillham, Francisco Mateo, Mariem Rigonan, and Mary Jane Tesoro. We welcome all who knew Serge to come celebrate his life at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, on Friday 6-9pm and Saturday 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held in California at Holy Cross Cemetery on December 30th.
