Steven Michael O’Brien died on May 16, 2016. He is survived by his two sons, Steven O’Brien, II and Kevin O’Brien, his parents, Sharon Harms, John Harms and John O’Brien, brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Regina O’Brien, sister Kimberly O’Brien, his nephews, Eric O’Brien, Jr., Daniel O’Brien, L. J. Bell, niece, Kelli Bell, great-niece and nephew, Eric O’Brien, III and Sophia Bell, and former wife and dear friend Kathleen O’Brien.
Steve was born in Baltimore on January 21, 1962. The eldest of three siblings, he lived in Howard County most of his life. Hegraduated from Howard High School in 1980 and married the former Kathleen Ward in 1987.
A kind and gentle family man, Steve was both compassionate and spiritual. Always a very generous person with whatever he possessed, Steve was one who would never hesitate to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a good mechanic and could often be found under the hood of a friend or family member’s car. Steve also had a soft spot in his heart for allanimals and loved cats and dogs.
As an avid outdoorsman, Steve loved camping, fishing and hiking. He very much enjoyed spending time with family whether it be family events, special occasions, or simply sharing a pizza or a cookout. He loved family meals and especially his Mom’s famous carrot cake. And of course, don’t forget Crabs and Beer, Hon.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Candle Light Funeral Home by Craig Witzke, 2835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 5:00 – 5:30 p.m.
