Suzanne R. Wilson

Suzanne Rutherford Wilson, 88, of Catonsville, Maryland passed away on January 31, 2023 of heart disease. She was born to Charles Allen and Margaret Clare Rutherford (nee Bailey) on September 24, 1934 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Their family moved several times before settling in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Rosary College in Chicago, Illinois with a degree in Biology. She met her late husband, John Edward Wilson of South Chicago on a blind date while in college. They married in 1958 and had four children: Terry Catanzariti (Frank), Mark Wilson (Ginny), John D. Wilson (Jassemine), and Amy Whiting (Joseph). She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Rutherford (Beverly) of Sierra Vista, Arizona and predeceased by a sister Molly Prado. She had 7 grandchildren: Heather Metcalf (Brandon), Shane Whiting (Lauren), Benjamin Whiting, Casey Murphy (Sean), Vincent Catanzariti, Daniel Wilson, and Alexander Wilson. She was also very proud of her 7 great grandchildren: Colton, Axel and Miles Metcalf, Harley and Tucker Whiting, and Ashton and Andy Murphy. Sue moved to Catonsville in 1964 with family. She was a resident of Catonsville for 58 years where she enjoyed spending time at the Catonsville Senior Center, was an active member of St. Mark Church and was treasurer for both the women’s club and the Roaming Catholics. Aside from being lovingly devoted to her family, she also had an accomplished career as District Manager of H&R Block for 29 years. In retirement she loved playing bridge, trying her luck at the casino, bus trips, vacationing in Florida, and was a voracious reader.

Visitation will be held at the family-owned Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD (21228) on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark Church on Tuesday, 10 am. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park. www.candlelightfuneralhome.com
