Theresa Anne Lapoint

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Theresa “Terry” Anne Lapoint (nee: Toomey) passed away after her long and hard-fought battle with Cancer at the age of 75. Born to Edwin and Laura Toomey (nee: Lasaro) in Glen Falls, NY, she came into this world on Friday, September 13, 1946.

Terry grew up in upstate NY, graduated high school in 1964, and soon after enrolled in nursing school. While completing her education, she met her future husband, Charles.  They fell in love and would be married on February 17, 1968.  Soon after, they moved to Catonsville, MD, where they've resided to this day. Terry had a wonderful career in nursing both in the hospitals and in her community, spanning 5 decades.

In 1977, Terry was blessed with the adoption of her daughter, Lora, whom she was a caring mother to for the entirety of their time together. Terry found a sister only two doors down in Donna Mealey, a friendship that would last decades. Building on this, Terry welcomed next door neighbors Natalie and Billy Ennis into her family years later and would often refer to them as her own.  She would continue to expand her family with the welcoming of the Ennis’ children, Liam and Lily, as her grandchildren.

Terry created a happy, joyful home, where people quickly became friends, and friends became more.  It was impossible to leave a visit to their house without a full stomach, a warm heart, and great stories.  Many of her friends would say it was their second home, a place to laugh and spend time with their dear friend.

Terry is survived by her loving husband, Charles Lapoint, and devoted daughter, Lora Lapoint; sister Mary Kitchner; extended family Cathy and John Lapoint, Donna and Michael Lapoint; and her dear neighbors that she grew to love as a part of her family: Donna Mealey, Natalie and Billy Ennis and their children Liam and Lily; Carole Jewett, Janet and Nathan Schlein.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228 on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Flowers are welcomed.
