On December 20, 2016, Thomas Tacka, known by many as Jagi, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side. He is now reunited with his loving wife, Mary Walton Tacka, who passed away in 2000. He was the devoted and proud father of Robert Tacka and wife Janet, Kenneth Tacka and wife Anne, Andrew Tacka and wife Christen, Maribeth Bennett and husband Barry, and Matthew Tacka; Cherished brother to Timothy Tacka(and wife Jessie) and Teresa Tacka; Dear brother-in-law to Rena and Charles Stricker, and James and Shirley Sandoz; Beloved Grandfather to Kaitlyn, Mark (and wife Marilyn), Hannah, Madison, Benjamin, Morgan, Emilie, Abigail, and Mackenzie Tacka, and Douglas and Kevin Bennett. He leaves behind dear friend and companion Carmen Schindhelm.
Tom lived all of his 73 years in and around Catonsville, MD. He attended St Agnes Catholic School and Mount Saint Joseph High School. He had a successful career working with computers at the Social Security Administration. Family was first and foremost for Tom. His friends will remember his cheerful, generous spirit and his great sense of humor. He was a champion of the underdog. One of his favorite activities was becoming Santa Claus during the Christmas season. He brightened the holidays for many when he arrived atop a Fire Engine in downtown Catonsville for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony or discussed wish lists with children at the Santa House or Breakfast with Santa events. Friends and family will fondly remember pool parties and holidays filled with fun. Tom had a way about him that made people feel happy and special. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will be eternal.
