On Friday, November 29th at his residence in Catonsville, Tommy Dercola passed away peacefully with his domestic partner of 20 years, Judy Stone, by his side.
A graduate of the University of MD and a contract analyst for DOE, Tommy was also the founder of Tommy Cole & The Belvederes, a popular rock band in DC where Tommy played the keyboard for many years. The Belvederes were regarded as one of the top bands of the area. Tommy was also an active member of the Montgomery County HOGS (Harley Owners Group) and a volunteer for the Patriot Guard Riders, providing a motorcycle escort for the families of fallen soldiers to Arlington National Cemetery. As a lifelong animal lover, Tommy was the Montgomery County Humane Society Volunteer of the Year for his tireless efforts in transporting animals to local sanctuaries. His volunteer efforts also extended to the Lion’s Club of PG County and other civic organizations.
Also mourning his loss are his brother, Gino Dercola, Columbia MD, and his sister, MaryAnn Hutchinson, of Gambrills, MD. and many generations of nieces and nephews. In addition, Tommy is predeceased by his younger sister, Rose Neutzling, of Hughson, CA and his parents, Pat and Grace Dercola, of Washington DC and Maryland.
