Virginia C. Linsenmeyer

Virginia Caballero Linsenmeyer passed away in Baltimore, Maryland on March 1, 2024 after a brief illness. Born in El Paso on October 8, 1939, the daughter of Romualdo and Elmira Hernandez Caballero. Virginia was the fourth of four sisters to attend Loretto Academy, graduating in 1958. During high school she was a class officer, held leadership roles on the Sodality Council and Intramural Council, and was a member of the Newman Club, Spurs honorary organization, and the Latin, French, Commercial, and Journalism clubs. In 1962, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas Western College, where she was a member of the philanthropic Phrateres sorority. During high school and college, she was actively interested in fashion and was on the White House College Fashion Council and modeled for various events and organizations, including the Women’s Auxiliary to Texas Western College and the Popular (department store). She was chosen as El Paso’s Dairy Maid in 1961. Following graduation, she became a teacher in El Paso city schools at Roosevelt Elementary.

In 1964, she married John F. Linsenmeyer at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in El Paso. They met at an Officers’ Club event while he was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso. Virginia moved to John’s hometown of Baltimore and lived in Timonium from about 1969. She was involved in the Parent–Teachers’ Association at Timonium Elementary, studied studio painting and portraiture in Ruxton, and attended Church of the Nativity in Timonium. During 1984–1987 she went back to school and received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in Spanish from Towson University. Later, she took graduate courses in Spanish Literature and History. In 2021, Virginia moved to Charlestown retirement community.

She was predeceased by her parents and sisters Norma Johnson, Cristina Metz, and Margarita Caballero, and her husband. She is survived by brother Raymond Caballero, sisters-in-law Janice McCann and Mary Hull, children John R. (Jack) and Christina Linsenmeyer, step-grandchildren Miranda and TJ Cox, grandchildren Chase and Harris, cousins, many nieces and nephews, and step-great-grandson baby Carter Midkiff for whom she was Bisabuela.

The family will receive friends at the family-owned Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD (21228) on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 10 am until 12 Noon.
