William C. Garry, Jr.

William C. Garry, Jr, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022.   Bill was born on August 5, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Margaret (Nee Carr) and William C. Garry, Sr.  Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (nee Brown), his son John Scott Garry, daughter-in—laws Sarah and Michelle, grandchildren T.J. Boone, Jessica, Kaylee, Zach and Grace Garry.  His son William (Billy) Garry predeceased him in 2014.  He is also survived by two brothers, Richard and Francis X. Garry, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was also affectionately known as “Whitey” by his son’s friends.

Bill was married to his wife, Sharon, for 58 wonderful years, and he was a loving grandfather. He was very gregarious and never met a stranger.  He was fun-loving and had a quick wit.  He was a long-time Catonsville resident.  Arriving here with his family in 1952; where he attended St. Mark’s School, Mt. St. Joe, Catonsville High School, and the University of Baltimore.  He spent his entire working career in the Food Service Industry travelling this country and Canada.  He loved his work and the people he met along the way. He was an avid fan of all sports, especially baseball, football and hockey.  He and his wife (Sharon) travelled widely and loved finding new restaurants to share with friends.  He had an amazing sense of humor that many of his friends will remember fondly. Some were recipients of his pranks.   Bill was a kind and generous man, and he was always willing to help a stranger or someone in need.  He had a joyful, vibrant personality. In many ways he was larger than life.  Bill always had a kind encouraging word for everyone, a twinkle in his eye, and a smile on his face.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mark’s Church on Thursday, July 7th, at 10 AM.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association .
