Mr. William Charles Pearce, Sr., 95, of Catonsville, MD, formerly of Edgewater, FL, passed away August 11, 2019, at Gilchrist Center in Towson, MD.

He was the son of John and Marie Pearce, brother of Constance Shellhorn and husband of Julia Virginia (nee Winter), all deceased.

He is survived by his brother John Herbert Pearce, of Covington, VA; his daughter, Virginia Lea Pearce of Catonsville, MD; his son, William Charles Pearce, Jr., and his wife Anne of Catonsville, MD. He is also survived by grandchildren Joseph (Lena) Nebel, Amanda (Robert) Hunter, Liberty Ravenwood, Michael Pearce, Jessica Pearce, Melissa (Garett) LaCouture, and six great grandchildren.

He was a World War II Veteran. He drove a Sherman tank with the 20th Armored Division, which participated in the liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp, April 29, 1945.

He met the love of his life, Julia Virginia Winter, after the war. They were married when he got out of the Army, and he worked for Pacific Gas & Electric, helping run the wires that brought electricity to many small towns in northern California.  They were married for 71 years before her death in June of 2018.

They moved to Maryland in 1950 where he worked for C&P Telephone Company, now known as Verizon, for 33 years. When he retired, he and his wife traveled extensively across the country with their RV. He was a Life Member of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Company, Engine 33.
