Carolyn (Lynn) Katherin Mott died suddenly after a brief illness on March 22, 2019. Born January 1, 1934 in Scranton, PA, she graduated from Keystone Junior College where she met the love of her life, C. Bogert (Bo) Mott. After a brief courtship they eloped in 1953. Following college she worked at the Just Born Candy Company and Bethlehem Steel in Bethlehem PA while her husband Bo attended Lehigh University.
After the birth of their first daughter Sherry they moved to Niscayuna, NY. Three more daughters (Lesley, Tracey, and Katherin) arrived shortly thereafter. The family then moved to Clark Summit, PA. Lynn thrived in the community, taking roles as a Girl Scout leader, cookie mom, and lifeguard on hot summer days at the backyard pool. Time was also spent enjoying the family cottage at Moosic Lake in Dunmore, PA.
The family relocated to Endicott, NY in 1971 where she sold real estate to help fund college for the daughters. Later, relocating to Concord, NC, Lynn was actively involved in her community. After Bo’s retirement, in 1993 they moved to Seabrook Island, SC, enjoying the beach, golf, friends, book club, playing bridge, and doing volunteer work with several organizations. Lynn moved to Catonsville, MD in 2007 and lived at Charlestown Retirement Community. She immersed herself in the community, playing bocci, golf, doing volunteer work for the Treasure Sales and served on the Resident Council. She enjoyed attending performances in opera, theater and classes in art. She traveled the world, seeing Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Greece, France, Germany, England, the Panama Canal, Canada, and the Caribbean.
Lynn was a faithful and active Episcopalian and she served in the leadership of many Episcopal churches over the years, including most recently on the Alter Guild and Teller Committee of The Holy Apostle Church in Arbutus, MD.
Lynn loved to read, she devoured mysteries, and it is no mystery why so many people loved her. She was a woman of impeccable taste and style. She was devoted to her daughters and three grandsons. She was a lover of collies, cats, fish, turtles, gerbils and loved to go to the zoo. She was an amazing baker, avid birdwatcher and loved to grow roses.
Her husband, who worked for IBM as a project planner, died in 1994. She is survived by a brother, Harry W. Sarrides and sister-in-law Kathryn Sarrides; four daughters, Sherry Williams, Lesley Luciani, Tracey Stuart-Paul (Craig Stuart-Paul), and Katherin Kelley (Dan Kelley) and 3 grandsons; Connor and Evan Stuart-Paul and Bryce Kelley.
