Matthew “Matt” John Deppe, 44, of Catonsville, MD, passed away on June 25, 2016 from Cardiac Arrest. Matt was born July 18, 1971 in Baltimore, the son of Norbert & Patricia (Finnegan) Deppe. Matt graduated from Catonsville High School in 1990.
Matt is survived by his parents, Norbert and Patricia of Catonsville; his brother Ted and wife Kathleen (Jones) Deppe, of Crownsville and his sister, Melissa and husband MichaelMarchetti of Catonsville. He is also survived by his nephew Jeremy and nieces, Lauren, Brenna, and Kelsey. He also leaves many extended family members and friends.
Growing up in Catonsville, surrounded by family and friends Matt enjoyed the company of others. At an early age, Matt began playing lacrosse for the St. Mark’s Lacrosse Club and the Hero’s League. His father, “Bert” and Uncle Robert Deppe, Sr., were coaches for the club for numerous years. His Uncle, Charles Grim was a coach and later the Lacrosse Commissioner for the club. Matt loved playing lacrosse with family and friends and grew into an incredible goalie.
Matt had many friends that considered him family. When he moved from Catonsville to Palm Harbor, Florida for a career in fiber optics, we knew Matt would be in his element. A year or so later he relocated to California due to a better job offer near Silicon Valley and eventually moved to Tucson, Arizona where he resided for several years. During that time he made many new friends that he considered brothers! The pictures posted on Facebook tell us a lot! He was the life of the party on so many occasions! The stories he told of the great times he had with friends throughout the years give a glimpse of how Matt touched so many lives in those areas.
We believe that Matt would have been a welcome volunteer at any pet adoption facility due his unconditional love of animals. Matt grew up with animals in the household and his love of animals has been depicted almost daily on Facebook. He posted so many videos and pictures of cats and dogs that made uslaugh. Often he would call asking if we saw the video he posted. Matt was always wanting to “give pats” to “puppycats”!
