William David Hansen

William David Hansen of Windsor Mill, Maryland passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the age of 82. After several years of declining health, “Bill” died peacefully with his beloved wife Tongpun and their daughter Linda by his side.

“Bill” was born in Minnesota on May 28, 1940 and was adopted by George and Bertha Hansen.  He learned to fly at an early age. He was a Civil Air Patrol cadet and later joined the United States Air Force. He graduated from The University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and later earned his master’s degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University.

He worked for Westinghouse / Northrop Grumman for over30 years. His career took him to many places around the world. When he was working in Thailand, he met Tongpun. Some of the other places they lived included Israel, Germany, England and Scotland before settling in Baltimore.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents George and Bertha Hansen and by his stepson Somya Hansen.

He is survived by his wife Tongpun “Mary” Hansen; his daughter Linda Hansen, his son in law Keith Fritz; his grandchildren Soren and Solara Fritz; his sister Linda Ann Hansen.

He is also survived by his stepson, Sawat Hansen and his wife Donna Hansen; step grandchildren Jamie, Bethany and Brandon Hansen; and stepdaughter Sunan Wongduangkaew

Bill will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a father, avid gardener, computer science geek, foodie, proud patriot and US Air Force veteran. He also loved his wife’s cooking more than any other food.
